Over the last few years the way work gets done has changed, and most businesses haven’t had anyone in their corner helping them take advantage of it.
We kept meeting capable, busy people running good businesses while buried in work that software should be doing for them. Fread exists to give them eye opening moments: the first time a tedious process runs on its own, the first time a week’s worth of work takes an afternoon.
We don’t sell tools or hype. Every engagement starts with how your business actually works and ends with something you own: the code, the data, and the plan. Advise your builders, lead them, or be the engineering. You pick how hands-on.
The founder

Fread was founded by Colin Moffat, a full stack software engineer with a Bachelor of Computing (Honours) from the University of Guelph. Since 2019 he has worked across the Canadian fintech stack, at KOHO, Synctera, Chexy, and Float.
Payments infrastructure became his specialty: live payment rails for sending and receiving money over EFT, ACH, and wires, custom ledgers for multiple companies, direct integrations with Visa, Stripe, and Plaid, and infrastructure overhauls to get systems ready for banking partnerships. It’s the kind of engineering where you learn to be careful, to test what you ship, and to build systems other people can trust and maintain.
You work directly with the founder. No account managers, no handoffs. The person who scopes the work is the person who ships it.
